NAME:Tom
Mollins
BORN:
Lanark, Scotland 12-6-58
STAR
SIGN: Gemini
SCHOOL:
Craigshill High School
FIRST
BAND: O'Haras' Playboys
MUSICAL
INFLUENCES: Beatles, Lynryd Skynryd and AC DC but now prefers
to listen to Mozart. Learned bass guitar at age of 16 when
his mother brought home a bass guitar for Christmas. He
actually wanted a pair of football boots! He would be playing
for Scotland had his wish come true.
Tom
joined Smackee in 1982 after a chance meeting with the band
in a Sunderland pub where he was invited down to Coventry
to audition - which he passed with flying colours - and
moved down to Coventry where he now lives with his wife
Anne and children. Tom is a superb bass player who not only
has perfect pitch, but also prides himself on his tremendous
gift of memorising every bass line of every song ever released.
He then has the annoying habit of singing them to you when
you least expect it. Sadly, Tom has a strange affliction.
He changes his guitar every 6 months in search of the perfect
bass sound. He is a typical Gemini.
Content
to stay out of the front-of-stage limelight his playing
is the foundation on which the others build on. He always
was a great Abba fan (even when it was considered a little
unfashionable to be so) so he is in his element when Smackee
do their Abba Tribute show.
HOBBIES:
Music, Bass guitars, Football, Golf Plays centre forward
in Sunday League football, but has now recently found a
new passion which rivals that of either listening to Mozart
on his portable CD or endlessly talking about bass guitars
GOLF! He is trying to apply the strict discipline
in which he plays the bass, to hitting a golf ball down
the fairway.
